Colour College

This two-day course at the Spies Hecker Training Academy in Welwyn Garden City will show the Spies Hecker refinisher how to achieve the excellent results when colour matching. From the perception of colours to the basic rules of colour rectification, participants will gain the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge of tinting while becoming proficient with the tools that ensure reliable results.

The course combines informative theory and highly practical hands-on sessions to help get the best results when using the Spies Hecker ColorDialog spectophotometer.

Using colour-matching tools, such as ColorDialog, Color Index and test panels, this course sets out to teach participants how to work out colour formulations and how to mix paint. It can be adapted to focus on the specific colours of a vehicle’s marque, but generally covers a range of colours that refinishers will encounter in their everyday work.

In simple steps, the course teaches attendees how to break colours down into easy-to-match segments, how to develop a formula and to adapt it to specific conditions. Based on this, participants then begin to set up their own personal database using the CR Plus software from Spies Hecker and find out how to document, to record and to store information on changes made to colour formulations. The course also includes information on the different tinting processes and gives a comprehensive overview of the available range of Spies Hecker colour-matching tools.

At the end of the course, all participants are given a binder with all the course notes, as well as information on the Spies Hecker Basecoat tints, including a tinting guide. They also receive a certificate of completion.
